accompanist.
Scores:
For all auditions, entrants must provide the
judge with one copy of the music with measures numbered. PHOTOCOPIES
AND HANDWRITTEN COPIES ARE PROHIBITED FOR EITHER JUDGE’S,
STUDENT'S, OR ACCOMPANIST’S USE. Accompanists and instrumentalists

GMTA
Audition Events Note:
Each line (grade/level under each instrument or
voice) is a separate event. For example, 4th grade piano-students

woodwind students will compete with 4th and 5th-grade students. All
references to grades means school grades.

AWARDS/RECOGNITION:
Pre-elementary - College:
(Exceptions: Piano Concerto and Theory Achievement Tests)
Approximately 50% of the entrants in each
grade/level audition will be recognized with
“Outstanding Performer”, “Award of Excellence”,

issue of the GMTA Newsletter.
Certificate awards will be given for each
grade/level in all Divisions/Instruments and Voice as follows:

Local
Association Auditions:
Required for Piano Division, Grades 4-12 only.
There are no preliminary auditions for the other Divisions/Grade
Levels. Contact your Local Association Auditions Chair for details.
Piano students competing in Local Association
Auditions are not permitted to enter the competitions in more than one
Local Association. Teachers should sign each application acknowledging
this rule. Local Auditions Chairs are required to send a list of
participating students and their teachers prior to local audition dates
to the Piano Coordinator. Students listed in more than one Local Audition Event
will be disqualified. Contestants who advance to the GMTA Spring
Auditions must perform the same repertory for both the local and
in-state auditions. Any change in repertoire from that performed at the
local level will result in disqualification. NO ALTERNATES WILL
BE CHOSEN IN THESE AUDITIONS. Students who perform different repertoire (title, opus
number, composer) from that which is on the application will be
disqualified.
